Standing here, you can feel the dark intrigue…shadows lurking and hidden stories oozing from crumbling walls. There is beauty here too, and a stillness that is palpable.
Before I reveal the location of my first small-town jaunt, here are a few hints:
- This town’s roots stretch back to the late 1800s
- It was once far bigger—and far more important—than you might expect
- It carries the name of someone who never actually set foot there
- People have been drawn here for generations, and not just for the scenery
