In my previous post, I introduced “Name That Town”, a photo guessing game to create intrigue surrounding my first small town trip for the blog. (Missed the original teaser? You can see it here!) Thank you to those that played along! The question I posed was, “Is this place haunted, artsy, or both?” I wonder if seen in the daylight, does your perspective change?

Dare I say, haunted by night…artsy by day?
Big shout out to Lauren Kirby (aka Aunt L.) for her comment:
“I want to say Bisbee, but maybe only went once. Wherever it is, looks super spooky- cool.”
You guessed it! My first small town journey was to Bisbee, Arizona! Here is some background on these enigmatic photos…
I first encountered these patina laden angels, poised to take flight, while wandering down a back alley during a ghost tour. They adorn both sides of a gate, behind which there are numerous stairs leading to a hidden house.
Built in 1908, the Anguis House is part of the Bisbee Historic District. It is set back from the road, concealed by walls on all sides and surrounded by trees and all kinds of vegetation. The angel sculptures are the work of local artist, Ben Dale, who has many such sculptures throughout the town (including one called “Copper Queen” that sadly, was recently stolen and is still unrecovered). It is apparently one of the most photographed spots in town, and it’s easy to see why. It’s captivating!
Next post, we will do a deeper dive into Bisbee history. How it came to be, what it’s most known for, and some of the stories that provoke mystery and scandal. Can’t wait to share more with you!

Beautiful…can’t have the light without the dark. The house seems mysterious, like a secret garden. Were you able to see it?
It is very mysterious! Very well hidden, and because it is a private residence, I could not see it. I tried doing more research but was extremely limited in what I could find! I so have some contacts now though, they might be able to help me out. I’ll share more if I can find more information.
Great post! I can’t wait to see where you will take us next!
